Travel Vlog: Exploring Kerala, Mangalore, Udupi, Kollur Mookambika, Murudeshwar, and Malpe Beach

Day 1: Journey from Kerala to Mangalore

Our journey begins in Kerala, where we set off in the early morning to the vibrant city of Mangalore. Kerala, with its lush green landscapes and serene backwaters, is always a treat, but today, our sights are set further north.

The road trip itself is a visual delight. We cruised through stretches of coconut trees, paddy fields, and small coastal towns. After a few hours of driving, we reached Mangalore, a bustling port city in Karnataka. We decided to take it easy on the first day and wandered around the city, visiting local markets and enjoying some delicious Mangalorean seafood.

Day 2: Udupi – A Spiritual and Culinary Haven

The next morning, we made our way to Udupi, a short 1-hour drive from Mangalore. Udupi is famous for its Sri Krishna Temple, and it was the perfect spot to begin the day with some spiritual peace. The architecture of the temple is stunning, and we were lucky to witness the morning pooja (prayer), which was a deeply calming experience.

While in Udupi, we couldn’t miss trying the legendary Udupi cuisine! We visited a local eatery and savored authentic Udupi dosa, idlis, and sambar. The simplicity and flavor of the food here are unbeatable.

Day 3: Kollur Mookambika Temple

From Udupi, we continued our journey to Kollur, about 80 km away, to visit the famous   Mookambika Temple. Nestled amidst the Western Ghats, this temple dedicated to Goddess Mookambika is surrounded by lush greenery and a tranquil atmosphere.

The drive to Kollur is beautiful, with winding roads through forested hills. The temple itself is serene and welcoming to devotees from all over. After offering our prayers, we took some time to explore the surrounding area, which is perfect for nature lovers.

Day 4: Murudeshwar – A Majestic Shiva Statue by the Sea

Our next stop was the majestic Murudeshwar Temple, located on the coast, about 60 km from Kollur. This temple is famous for its massive statue of Lord Shiva, which towers over the coastline at 123 feet tall! The sight of the towering Shiva statue with the Arabian Sea as the backdrop was breathtaking.

We spent time exploring the temple complex, which is built on a hill, offering panoramic views of the sea. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks combined with the peaceful temple atmosphere created an unforgettable experience.

Day 5: Malpe Beach – A Day of Relaxation

After a few days of temple hopping and spiritual experiences, we decided to unwind at   Malpe Beach  , just 10 km from Udupi. Malpe is one of the cleanest and most scenic beaches in Karnataka, with golden sand and crystal-clear waters.

We enjoyed a relaxing beach day, soaking up the sun and indulging in some local beachside snacks like spicy bhelpuri. The highlight of the day was a short boat ride to   St. Mary's Island  , which is known for its unique rock formations and pristine waters. Watching the sunset here was a magical end to the day.

Day 6: Back to Kerala

With a heart full of memories, it was time to head back to Kerala. The drive back was a reflection on the beautiful places we had visited and the diverse experiences we had collected. From the peaceful temples of Udupi and Kollur to the magnificent coastlines of Murudeshwar and Malpe, this trip gave us a perfect blend of spirituality, nature, and relaxation.

If you're planning a trip through this coastal belt, I'd highly recommend adding these stops to your itinerary. Each place is unique in its own way, and together they offer an experience that's both enriching and rejuvenating. Until next time, happy travels!
